Dr. Lawrence Pass is a native of Tennessee. He graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude honors. He earned his Medical Doctorate from Northwestern University. While at Northwestern, he earned honors in Student Research Fellowship for the American Cancer Society. He then served his internship and completed his residency in General Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Pass then went on to the University of Rochester where he earned the Robert R. White, M.D. Award for excellence in surgical teaching. During his time at Rochester, he was an Assistant Resident, Research Fellow, Senior Resident, and eventually the Chief Resident and Instructor of General Surgery. Following Rochester, Dr. Pass went to Yale University Medical Center where he was Chief Resident and Instructor of Cardiothoracic Surgery. Dr. Pass is board certified with the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, the American Board of Surgery and the National Board of Medical Examiners. In 1985 Dr. Pass joined the Cardiovascular Surgery faculty at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX where he engaged in clinical surgery, research, and resident education. Dr. Pass moved back home to Nashville in 1989 and began his own Cardiothoracic practice. He remained in private practice until February of 2012 when he joined the TriStar Cardiothoracic Surgery practice at Centennial Medical Center. He is married and has two children.
